Raytheon Technical Support Engr I in Goleta, California

Raytheon Vision Systems is currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer I to support our Space Products line. The Space Products Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for assisting technicians in the lab by interpreting work instructions, communicating with other supporting disciplines, and applying real-time technical problem solving skills. This role advises and assists in effecting design/process changes to increase operational efficiency, improve hardware safety, and/or reduce cost of operations. The Technical Support Engineer will spend the majority of their time hands-on and partnered with one to two technicians in a cleanroom environment. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based atmosphere where they will frequently apply technical standards, concepts, and techniques to meet design and mission assurance requirements. Most work will be performed during a standard workweek, but occasional overtime and weekend support may be required in order to meet customer/program needs. The exact hours worked will be flexible and will be negotiated between the employee and management to obtain an acceptable work-life balance. A rigorous attention to detail is required. Required Skills: Competent with mechanical assembly – able to use torque drivers and other handheld assembly tooling, often using both hands at the same time Able to precisely manipulate tweezers under a microscope Capable of reading mechanical engineering drawings Lifting up to 20lbs Able to wear all provided personal protective equipment (safety glasses, coveralls, latex or equivalent gloves, etc.) and be able to work for extended periods of time in an environmentally controlled area Demonstrated ability to maintain an exceptional attention to detail while working within compressed and expedited schedules Effective interpersonal communication skills to interface with engineers, production control personnel, project managers, production technicians, customers, and company leadership Regular use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Must be able to remain calm under pressure and perform work in the near real-time decision-making environment U.S. Citizenship The ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date Desired Skills: Good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T) Six Sigma Specialist Certification or equivalent training Previous experience working in a cleanroom and around ESD sensitive parts Understanding of FOD and FOD reduction methods and concerns Required Education: BS degree from an accredited college in a related discipline Desired Education : BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons 113071
