Raytheon Product Engineer in Goleta, California

This position will support introduction and scale up of new products into manufacturing. The Product Engineering role will be central to this position. Individual will be responsible to assure that the scale up and delivery of the product through from pilot to production volumes will be seamless and in full compliance to processes and procedures used during the manufacturing process. Individual works cross functionally with Quality, Operations, Manufacturing and Design Engineering personnel. The individual leads in the development and support of the design and scale up of the product into manufacturing insuring that DFM and DFC are built in from the outset and that manufacturing processes are efficient and high yielding. The individual will work directly with manufacturing personnel for resolving process issues efficiently in real time. Additional responsibilities include: Being a leader in coming up with ideas for DFC/DFM, and spearheading them to completion Working with customer and end-user to guide the development of meaningful product requirements and specifications facilitating a concise design process and DFM/DFC Working with supply chain to insure non-conforming material is kept to a minimum and vendors understand not only the design drawings and work instructions, but the general requirements for the products we build (FOD, cleanliness, etc.) Leading root cause and corrective action analysis if required Review manufacturing tooling plans and work instructions for clarity, ease of use, and efficiency Leadership for minimization of waste in the production process (rework, downtime, scrap) Ensure that First Article Inspections are sufficient to determine that hardware meets all quality requirements flowed down from the programs Conduct area self audits to assure compliance. Participate in the design of fixtures and tooling with a critical eye on ease of use efficiency Required Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. 4-6 yrs experience working as a process or manufacturing engineer Highly motivated possessing superior communication skills across all functions involved in product development as well as the customer and end user Desire and ability to work as a team member and lead in the key areas are essential Strong customer focus Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail Must be adaptable and willing to work varying assignments Desired Skills: Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Project). Understanding for all the steps in new product development Working knowledge of military and commercial manufacturing processes Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma and statistical techniques Ability to work with key functions to deliver and scale production of new product (design, supply chain, procurement, test, quality assurance, production control and manufacturing) Secret Security Clearance level or the ability to obtain Strong teaming and communication skills Required Education: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree 112799
